HEAD OF AUDIT HUB ASIA / PACIFIC WITH RE INSURANCE MNC

For this role, you head up the Group Audit Asia/Pacific and support the Board of Management in performing its risk control and monitoring duties. Your team checks and assesses whether processes, structures, systems and activities within the reinsurance, primary insurance and asset management comply with external and internal requirements. You and your team also advise divisional units, central divisions and subsidiaries on how to design and document their internal control systems and on governance topics.

 

Our client is  looking for an experienced IA professional with more than 15 years of experience to fill this position of Head of Audit Hub Asia/Pacific located in Singapore. You will be responsible for leading the Asia/Pacific Hub covering MR entities in the Asia/Pacific Region and ERGO in Singapore. Furthermore, you will advise them on all audit related issues and support projects regarding internal controls.

 

YOUR JOB

  • Leading and further developing the IA hub for the assigned Munich Re subsidiaries and branches in the Asia/Pacific Region and ERGO in Singapore.
  • Leading the audit team in Singapore and steering the audit team in Australia
  • Develop, implement and maintain a risk based internal audit plan, aligned with the business and where applicable with the Audit Committees of the assigned companies.
  • Understand and align with the firm’s audit planning.
  • Planning staff allocation in the Asia/Pacific Region.
  • Efficient performance of all regular and special audits based on the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), local regulations and Group Audit requirements. Where applicable in collaboration with other audit units in the Group (joint audits).
  • Coordinating all auditing issues and ensuring excellent communication with management of all units to be audited.
  • Create valuable business insight from internal audit activity to support decision making.
  • Issuing audit reports of high quality with particular attention to major or serious deficiencies and to the measures agreed to remedy them.
  • Monitoring of the implementation of agreed measures to remedy deficiencies appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Quality assurance of working papers and audit reports.
  • Quarterly reporting to Group Audit and Internal Audit ERGO and where applicable to the Audit Committees of the assigned companies.
  • Exchanging and collaborating with management of other Group audit units

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Very good university degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Actuarial Studies or Law.
  • Min 15 years of audit experience
  • Has exposure to both life insurance and general insurance gained in an IA capacity
  • Has team management experience gained in an international environment
  • Has Asia/Pacific insurance market and regulations
  • Has excellent analytical skills and ability to come to grips with complex issues.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Internal Auditor).
  • Very good command of oral and written English required; work experience in a multicultural environment and knowledge of the German language or a major Asian language would be an advantage.
  • Strong team player sharing relevant information, highly motivated and conscientious approach to work.
  • Confident and convincing manner, proven negotiating skills and assertiveness.
  • Entrepreneurial skills, ability to manage multiple assignments and track progress.
  • Willingness to work in Singapore and travel up to 30% to 40%.
