Financial Reporting Accountant role with a Commodity MNC (perm role)

Our client is a renowned commodity MNC.

 

For this role, you will be responsible for the financial reporting processes within a business Finance Team, which includes closing of month-end in SAP and Hyperion, alongside operational processes of being the link between the sales operations teams and Global Shared Services (GSS) to ensure that payments are being made.

You will also be responsible for submitting relevant data through to the Production BUs. This role works closely with the Financial Business analyst by providing numbers for the marketing hubs and be the responsible for any loads into the group reporting system Hyperion, including outlook and budget.  In addition, you are responsible for continuously improving the financial reporting and operational finance process in terms of controls and efficiency, and as a peer group they will work together with other commodity accountants to ensure consistency.

 

Key tasks

•Leadership – Lead one Analyst to complete the financial & management reporting responsibilities for the assigned BU.

 

•Technical accounting – Responsible for the preparation of accounting papers for any new business activities that trigger an assessment of accounting treatment and responsible for the coordination with the Corporate team to ensure external audit and Group technical sign-off on the accountant treatment.

 

•Forecasting and budgeting – Responsible for the group reporting load of the forecast and budget for relevant commodity into Hyperion in accordance with the Production BU timelines.

 

•Monthly financial statement submission – Review the multiple SAP ledgers and ensuring that the Completeness, Accuracy, Validity and Existence principles are applied in the preparation as well as conformity with IFRS. Ensure required month end adjustments have been posted by the Financial Reporting Analyst.

 

•Monthly performance report – Provide support to the Financial Business analyst by providing relevant data for them to complete the monthly marketing performance report according to the format and timeline agreed with Financial Business Analyst.

 

•Production BU reporting – Prepare data required for actual, forecast, budget, interim and year end reporting to support the reporting of the Marketing results for the relevant commodity through to the Production BU.

 

•Ad hoc financial or management report – Prepare and verify ad hoc report requested by the marketing business.

 

 

Key requirements:

•Degree in Accountancy with around 6 to 9 years of work experience, with some financial reporting experience gained in a MNC environment

• Strong knowledge of Financial Controlling / local statutory accounting standard, IFRS, UK GAAP and local tax law. Also under the FP&A process

• Strong experience doing continuous process improvement

•Demonstrated ability to interface successfully at multiple organisation levels

•Good track record of interfacing with and influencing senior executives

•Results oriented, capable of holding self and others to account on delivery

•Ability to understand perspective of multiple stakeholders, and successfully influence / challenge the opinions of colleagues and senior managers

•Constructively engage stakeholders to a common cause through developing mutually beneficial solutions and proposals

•Strong communications and presentation skills
