Job description
The candidate supports the VP, Financial Reporting to oversee the financial and accounting functions for the Corporate headquarters, including reporting, internal control, cost management as well as tax and transfer pricing compliance. Key functions: 1. Ensure timely and accurate monthly and year end group and statutory reporting - adhere to reporting timeline for submission of monthly financials with no material post close adjustments - support the completion of the year end audit report for consolidation - complete local statutory filing within 6 months after year end 2. Continuously looking for improvement in building up a more efficient and effective financial process - implement initiatives for a more efficient financial close process with optimal resources (i.e. close the books with less turnaround time) - perform well on scorecard used to track the completion of the closing calendar on time 3. Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls - develop/ improvise the monthly closing checklist to produce accurate financials free of error - implement/ adopt SOPs for consistency and accuracy of financial recording and reporting 4. Cash forecasting - predict future cash inflows, as well as outflows and take on pro-active actions to avoid cash deficits - calculations of optimal cash reserves to be maintained 5. Supervise the billing of management fees to or payments made on behalf of related companies in accordance with the respective agreements - comply with transfer pricing guidelines based on advice from Regional Tax - improve the intercompany reconciliation process for efficiency 6. Work collaboratively with other function groups to support in strategic financial and business planning advice - be proactive and provide value added support to non-finance leaders: provide the financial information needed to develop successful strategies; communicate accounting and finance principals to non-accounting professionals 7. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations - liaise with the auditors and government agencies, if necessary 8. Coordinate the preparation of annual tax and GST return with Tax team and review submissions 9. Monitor overhead spending and accuracy of cost accrual - assist in providing financial analysis to evaluate special projects, programs, capital expenditures, etc. when necessary 10. - Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance (CPA or preferred) -Proven working experience as a Controller or senior Financial Reporting Manager - 8 to 12 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience - Thorough knowledge of accounting and tax principles and procedures - Should have a thorough understanding of bank account management and international funds flows
