Sales Ops / Trade Finance Specialist with renowned commodity MNC

Our client is a renowned commodity MNC. It is now looking to hire a hands-on sales ops/ trade finance specialist. For this role, you will  be responsible for the provision of sales operations activities including contracts administration, invoicing, export document management, trade finance negotiations and customer liaison. Key functions:

 

  • Provides input, with an emphasis on operational terms, payment terms and trade finance requirements, into the sales contracting processes and is back-up to the contracts administrator  
  • Responsible for the post-contracting coordination between sales, shipping and port operations within the producing country to ensure smooth loading, which activities include the obtaining and collation of  shipping documentation, maintaining physical file and the arrangement of insurance
  • Liaising with Finance for detailed provisional and final commercial invoice creation and the preparation of despatch/ demurrage calculations prior to payment
  • Negotiates trade finance terms, with an emphasis on letters of credit, between customers and related banks ensuring compliance with Group policies
  • Responsible for working with the Sales Manager to ensure overdue accounts receivables are followed up with customers in the event they are overdue. Gives input to Finance to facilitate cash flow forecasting in support of the Commercial Unit’s working capital management
  • Providing on demand support to the sales managers and customers with regards to enquiries and claims

 

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma qualified with min 3 years of relevant sales ops/trade finance experience gained with commodity MNCs.
  • Knowledge of port and shipping logistics operations is a must
  • Experience in the logistics and supply chain management of commodities or commodities shipping is required.
  • Mandarin speaking proficiency is required (as China is a key market).
  • Prior experience of managing credit risk using trade finance instruments such as letters of credit will be relevant (but not a must)
