Accounting & Risk Manager with a Global Commodity MNC

Our client is a top notch MNC in the commodity industry. We are looking for a seasoned accounting manager to manage a team of 2 supporting a key commodity division.
In this role, you will be responsible for the production of management, performance and financial reports including top level analysis, cash flow management, and corporate support for a key marketing division together with the design, delivery, monitoring, reporting and management of the Risk Function. The focus of the role is on the financial reporting and accounting aspect, but there will be a risk part of this role ( include Credit Risk, Counterparty Risk and Marketing Risk) which this person will develop and build on in future. In this role, this person will report in to the Head of Finance & Sales Operations in the delivery of constructive business assessment, financial intelligence and performance reporting. This person will also work closely with colleagues in the overseas office on reporting, and risk and governance issues.
Key tasks:
Accounting and Financial Statements
Responsible for the management, processing and maintenance of the SAP ledger for a key business, in conformity with IFRS.
Direct responsibility for the preparation and delivery of the required Financial Statements for periodic submission to Directors, Shareholders, Government or other regulatory requirements, ensuring they comply with all relevant standards and policies.
Manage the Accounting Services processing (AR, AP), including timely and accurate reporting of aged receivables, credit exposure/headroom, cash flows, overdue/due receivables and payables.
Forecasting and budgeting
Manage and prepare the forecast and budget for the business
Prepare data required for actual, forecast, budget, interim and year end reporting to support the reporting of results for the marketing BU
Manage the forecasting and management of cash flows, through coordination of information with Marketing Treasury and sales ops team
Corporate and Board Reporting
Assist directly the Finance Manager with the compilation and delivery of Corporate and Board reporting for 2 business divisions.
Performance Reporting
Joint responsibility with the Finance Manager to prepare the Monthly Performance Review/Quarterly Performance Review (or other ad hoc performance reporting required) including analysis and reports in accordance with internal requirements and deadlines for the marketing team.
Coordinate and capture from the Sales and Marketing team input and commentary on business performance for inclusion in reporting, appropriately editing to provide first class reporting and commentary.
Business Unit Consolidation
Provide the Marketing inputs into the Marketing BU consolidated results (financial & performance reporting) for inclusion in the periodic reporting requirements.
Risk and Governance
Lead the assessment, governance, monitoring and mitigation of credit, counterparty and marketing risk, initially through the support of the Marketing Risk Team.
Key qualifications:
Excellent academic credentials in Business or Finance, ideally master degree with CPA or CA qualification with around 8 to 15 years of work experience
Strong in preparing financial statements with excellent financial reporting and management reporting experience.
Hands-on experience managing a small team
Knowledge of banking systems, commodity trading and the mining industry
SAP and HFM experience required
Excellent and critical thinking skills
Excellent spreadsheet modelling skill. Ability to produce reports from data stored in multiple systems and multiple formats.
Results oriented, capable of holding self and others to account on delivery.
Ability to understand perspective of multiple stakeholders, and successfully influence / challenge the opinions of colleagues and senior managers
Constructively engage stakeholders to a common cause through developing mutually beneficial solutions and proposals.
Has ability to understand business needs and value drivers, and recommend appropriate commercial solutions
Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly across various geographical and cultural regions
