Associate, Value Management role with a global investment firm

Our client is a global investment firm. For this role, you are part of the Value Management team which is under the Portfolio Strategy and Risk Group which helps to provide guidance on the firm’s strategic direction and portfolio objectives.  

 

This  team manages the portfolio performance measurement framework of the firm, provides analysis on portfolio returns and recommendations. In addition, the team evaluates and determines discount rates for the firm’s investment deal teams.     You will report to the Director, Value Mgt and cover the following:

 

Portfolio Performance

  • Participate actively in policy reviews on performance measurement methodologies and valuation discount rate parameters to enhance portfolio performance measurement. This involves extensive study of academic research and market practices etc and evaluate how they can be applied to our frameworks.
  • Analyse performance metrics data and provide analysis on portfolio returns and recommendations.
  • Assist in investment performance reporting requirements and prepare relevant performance and benchmarking data for presentation to internal & external stakeholders.

 

Investment Engagement

  • Partner with investment deal teams to provide inputs on valuation cost of capital/discount rate parameters, conduct sanity checks on cost of capital, where required; keep track of deal specific cost of capital/discount rate used by the market.
  • Understand & facilitate the evaluation and determination of hurdle rates for new asset classes

 

System/Processes

  • Manage audit requirements and processes on performance metric results.
  • Manage the systemized computation of performance metrics by working with IT team 
  • Make enhancements to the system according to business needs and reporting requirements

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with about 2-3 years of experience, preferably in a quantitative and analytical discipline
  • Experience in corporate finance, performance analysis , performance management or middle office exp required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Bloomberg, Factset and Hyperion would be a strong plus
  • Meticulous with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to work well in a team is essential
