Trade Finance Officer (6 mths contract) with commodity MNC

  • 6 mths contract role, with a possibility that the role may be extended for another 6  months
  • Min 3 years of experience of working at an international bank / trader/ commodity MNC dealing with Letters of Credit
  • Mandarin speaking proficiency required due to the frequent interaction with Chinese customers
 

Our client is an international commodity MNC (based in town).

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Liaise closely with Trading and Operations Teams to ensure timely securitisation of financing/risk underwriting.
  • Placing transactions with financing banks and further liaising with same throughout the life of the transaction.
  • Negotiation with counterparties on Import LC formats based on agreed contractual terms
  • Issuance of Letters of Credit and Bid/Performance Bonds per contract obligations
  • Checking workability of Export Letters of Credit and requesting amendments (if necessary).
  • Ensure financial security for each shipment is in good order before giving the approval to load/discharge to the Operations team.
  • Checking confirmation/discount rates with banks and updating internal records.
  • Working with Settlement Ops on prompt presentation of export documents/
  • Maintaining strong relationships with financing (and other) banks including negotiation of bi-lateral facilities as and when required.
  • Ensure the proper drafting/countering of financial documentation.
  • Chasing for cancellation of expired Bid and Performance Bonds.
  • Organisation of expired files.
  • General filing as and when required.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Min diploma qualification
  • 2-3 years of experience of working at an international bank / trader/ commodity MNC dealing with Letters of Credit.
  • Experience of flows involving oil and /or coal/ iron ore/metals preferred
  • Well organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have solid ability to converse (written and spoken) in Mandarin and English as the role will deal with clients in China (hence requiring Mandarin proficiency)
  • Can start now or in the next 2 weeks and able to commit to a 6 mth contract
